Affordable service for conducting criminal background checks
The Tennessee Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church is providing local churches an affordable service for conducting criminal background checks through Kroll Background America, Inc.
Kroll Background America, Inc. is the world’s foremost independent risk consulting company. For more than 30 years, Kroll has investigated job candidates at all levels, from Fortune 500 managers and university coaches to mid-level executives and mailroom personnel. Kroll’s investigators maintain a 99% accuracy rate by adhering to a strict company-developed Quality Assurance Program. This program ensures that information gathered by Kroll is double-checked and verified and that the quality and accuracy of the work performed by Kroll’s employees and researchers is at the highest level.
The Tennessee Conference does not conduct nor is responsible for information obtained in a criminal background check. The Tennessee Conference is only responsible for receiving from a local church the appropriate release form and payment for the reports, processing the request for a check through Kroll Background America, Inc., and sending the completed report to the local church. It is the responsibility of the local church receiving the reports to abide and comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If you should make an adverse employment decision based on information within a Kroll Background America report, it is the local church’s responsibility to follow the “Adverse Action Process.” Any questions about a report provided must be addressed to Kroll Background America, Inc. at 1-800-697-7189.

Please mail your request specifying the package and/or additional services, the completed and signed Schedule F Release form(s) by each volunteer and/or staff person, and the appropriate payment for services to the Office of Ministerial Concerns, Attn: Susan Padgett, 1808 West End Avenue, Suite 501, Nashville, TN 37203-2581. Please make checks payable to the Tennessee Annual Conference.
